Rust Remover

Usage Instructions

  1. Preparation:
    1. Clean the Parts: Before using Rust Remover, clean the parts thoroughly with Breakthrough Clean Technologies® Military Grade Solvent to remove any oils or contaminants. This ensures maximum effectiveness.
    2. Safety Precautions: Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and safety glasses. Ensure you are working in a well-ventilated area, although the product is odorless.
  2. Application:
    1. Submerge Rusted Areas: Fully submerge the rusted areas of the metal parts in Rust Remover. Ensure all rusted areas are completely covered by the solution.
    2. Saturate Towel: For areas that cannot be submerged, saturate a towel and wrap parts to keep wet.
    3. Container Selection: Use a container made of plastic, glass, or a non-reactive material to avoid any reactions with the solution.
  3. Timing:
    1. Light Rust: For light rust, let the parts sit in the solution for approximately 10-20 minutes. Check periodically to monitor the progress.
    2. Heavy Rust: For heavily rusted parts, it may be necessary to leave them in the solution overnight. *Be sure to spot check anodized, nitride, cerakote or other aftermarket finishes prior to submerging.
  4. Inspection:
    1. Check Progress: Periodically check the parts to see if the rust has been fully dissolved. Use a soft brush if necessary to gently agitate and remove loosened rust.
    2. Re-submerge if Needed: If rust remains, re-submerge the parts and allow additional time.
  5. Rinsing:
    1. Rinse with Water: Once the rust is removed, take the parts out of the solution and rinse them thoroughly with clean water. Ensure all residues of Rust Remover are washed off.
    2. Dry Completely: Dry the parts thoroughly to prevent new rust from forming. Use compressed air or a clean, dry cloth to remove any remaining moisture.
  6. Post-Treatment:
    1. Protective Coating: Apply a protective coating of Breakthrough Clean Technologies® Battle Born™ High-Purity Oil, HP Pro or Battle Born™ Grease to the cleaned parts to prevent future rusting.
